One School of Printing & Allied Trades operates under the administrative control of the Directorate of Printing, Stationery & Publication, Odisha, located in Madhupatna, Cuttack. It was established in 1955 with the objective of producing skilled technicians in printing trades to fulfill the needs of the Odisha Government Press as well as other presses in the Central and Private Sectors. Subsequently, the Printing School was transformed into a Basic Training Centre in 1971, following the provisions contained in Section 9 of the Apprentices Act 1961. It is the sole Basic Centre for printing trade apprentices in the State of Odisha.
Since 1971, this School has provided training in various printing trades, as well as post-ITI apprenticeship training for ITI NTC Holders. Initially, training was offered in trades such as Letterpress, Composing, Lino Operator, Mono Operator, and Engraving. However, with the introduction of the latest printing technology, training is now focused on trades like Offset, Platemaking, Retouching, and Book Binding. The State Apprenticeship Advisor, following a thorough survey of this organization, has determined the number of seats available in different trades for providing this training. Details of the intake capacity and stipend rates are as follows:-

Thus, the total intake capacity of School Unit .. 128 + 42 + 03 = 173
Usually the School typically enrolls fresh apprentices twice in a year i.e March/April & August/ September also conducted all India Trade Test under SCTE & VT, BBSR and issues certificate accordingly.
